Q&A: Chandra Mission
Q:
Is the HRC still functioning and what role, if any, has it
played in recent discoveries?
A:
Yes the HRC is still functioning, and producing beautiful
images. The ACIS is used for most of the images because of
its ability to make images at different energies. The HRC is
used primarily when fast time resolution is needed, as for
example in studies of pulsars. You can find the HRC images by
browsing through the photo album and looking for ' HRC ' in
the Fast Facts section. See, for example: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2001/0022/index.html.
