During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Feb 11 to patch a data value in non-checksummed memory of the Control Processing Electronics (CPE). The patch to CPE memory was performed in order to minimize the time Chandra spends in attitude hold at the start of a Safe Mode transition. Unnecessary time spent in attitude hold delays entry into the desired orientation and had occurred during the past three Safe Mode transitions. Of note this week was the release on Feb 9 of CIAO 4.8.1. The primary changes introduced in the patch are a fix to acis_process_events and an upgrade to version 7.4 of SAOImage DS9. For details see: http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/releasenotes/ciao_4.8.1_release.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of ASASSN-15lh, which is a follow-up Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity accepted on Oct 19, and observations of SDSS J1228+3414, SDSS J1638+1151, and SDSS J1245+0156 coordinated with ground-based observatories. |
