During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A Chandra image release was issued on Nov 12 describing observations of Delta Orionis, a complex star system that constitutes the westernmost star in the "belt" of the Orion constellation. Two of the stars are massive and orbit one another once every 5.7 days. By observing this system for the equivalent of nearly six days with Chandra, new information about these stars was obtained. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2015/dori/ The schedule of targets for the next two weeks is shown below and includes an observation of 2MASX J01392400+2924067 coordinated with NuSTAR. |
