Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 10 April 2015 9.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate an observation of 1RXS J180408.9-342058, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Apr 7. A scheduled observation of Sgr A* was impacted by the replan and will be rescheduled in a future week.

A Chandra press release was issued on Apr 6 announcing the selection of the 2015 Einstein Fellows, who will conduct research related to NASA's Physics of the Cosmos (PCOS) program. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/15_releases/press_040615.html

Of note this week was the release on Apr 7 of version 4.7.2 of the Contributed Scripts and Modules package. Included in the package were new scripts that automate the steps necessary to separate multi-ObI and interleaved-mode observations into individual directories compatible with chandra_repro, synchronizes the input GTIs to the ACIS exposure boundaries, and creates a single multi-chip GTI from individual GTIs. In addition to the new scripts, the release contains bug-fixes and updates to existing scripts. For details see: http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/news.html

Also of note this week was the Chandra Quarterly Review conducted on Apr 8 in Cambridge.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes, in addition to the observation of 1RXS J180408.9-342058 mentioned above, an observation of RW Aur, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Mar 20, and observations of PG 1211+143 coordinated with HST.
