During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was executed on Oct 1 to test an update to the MUPS thruster firing parameters. The flight software was temporarily patched with the updated parameters for a short, scheduled MUPS thruster firing. The thruster firing performed as expected. The firing parameter update was planned pre-launch as a maintenance activity to compensate for the decrease in thruster impulse with fuel use. As an additional benefit the updated firing parameters are expected to decrease susceptibility to thermal choking in the thrusters. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below |
