| During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Chandra passed through the 4th, 5th and final 6th eclipse of the 2007 Winter season on Jan 6, 9 and 11 respectively. Telemetry indicated nominal power and thermal performance in all cases. An Aspect Camera dark current calibration was performed from the on-board loads on Jan 5. Assessment of the data indicated an expected rate of increase in warm pixels. Chandra press releases were issued on Jan 4 and Jan 10 in conjunction with the AAS meeting in Seattle. The Jan 4 release described Chandra data that provide evidence for a possible new class of supernova and the Jan 10 release discussed the detection of a light echo from Sgr A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/07_releases/press_010407.html http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/07_releases/press_011007.html The schedule of targets for next week is shown below and includes includes an observation of 3C273 coordinated with Spitzer. |
