During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Real-time procedures were executed on Aug 24, Aug 25, and Aug 26 to test the HRC-S response to gradually increased source brightness. Observations with the HRC-S detector have been suspended since the HRC-S High-Voltage anomaly on Oct 23, 2025. A Chandra image release was issued on Aug 25 with a collection of galaxy images from the Chandra X-ray Observatory’s extensive archive. The compilation combines data from Chandra and from other NASA missions, including IXPE, Swift, NuSTAR, JWST and HST, as well as ground-based optical telescopes. For details, see https://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2026/galaxies/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below, and includes an observation of SRGA J174800.5-28082, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Aug 25, and an observation of EP J223759.5+531421, which is a follow-up to a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity accepted on Jul 14. |
