Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 10 August 2012 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Preparations are complete for the start of the summer 2012 eclipse season; the season contains 26 eclipses and runs from Aug 6 to Oct 11. Real-time procedures were executed on Aug 5 to prepare for the first eclipse: one to activate SCS 29 and one to dump and clear the EPS glitch counters. Chandra passed through the first eclipse of the season (penumbra only) on Aug 6, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on Aug 6 to set the short eclipse flag to "true" in preparation for the second, third, and fourth eclipses of the season. Chandra passed through the second eclipse of the season on Aug 8, with nominal power and thermal performance.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GRB 120804A, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Aug 7, and observations of M31* coordinated with HST and EVLA.
