Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 2 March 2012 9.00am EST

During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted due to high radiation associated with solar activity. The loads were halted at 10:24pm EST on Feb 26 through a ground command to execute the SI Safing SCS 107. This ensured that the accumulated radiation dose for ACIS remained below the allowed threshold. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on Feb 27 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. An additional real-time procedure was executed on Feb 27 to start a collection of ACIS CCD charge-transfer inefficiency data. A replanned schedule for resuming science observations was uplinked on Feb 27 with 87.8ks of science loss. Planned observations of 4C73.18, G115.71+17.52, J1214.0+2932, HD 188015, G38.7-1.4, and J0232.3-3639 were impacted and will be rescheduled.

A real-time procedure was executed on Mar 2 to update the on-board ephemeris.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of 55 Cnc, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Feb 23 and is coordinated with HST, an observation of IGR J18179-1621, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 1, and an observation of RXJ1622.7-2325_P1 coordinated with OVRO/CARMA.
