Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 6 February 2009 7.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Feb 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

A Chandra image release was issued on Jan 30 of the nearby galaxy Centaurus A. The multi-wavelength image shows jets and lobes powered by the central black hole in X-ray (Chandra), submillimeter (APEX) and visible light from the Max-Planck/ESO 2.2 m telescope. The combined image shows the X-ray jet extending for 13,000 light years, material moving at half the speed of light, and the dust lane and background stars. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2009/cena/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of NGC 4051 coordinated with the VLA.
