Operations CXO Status Report

Monday 1 May 2000 8.30am EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

One real-time procedure is planned during the next week to continue testing the ACIS "squeegee mode". The test scheduled for 4:45pm on 5/1 will use the same number of CCD rows as for the 4/15 test (8 and 16), but with reduced parallel transfer times. The test is intended to verify that the energy resolution improves on-orbit in the same manner as in lab tests.

The planned observations for next week are as follows.

------------------------------------------
NGC 3603 ACIS-I May 1
PMN J1131+0455 ACIS-S May 2
NGC 4579 ACIS-S
CL 0848.6+4453 ACIS-I May 3

CL 0848.6+4453 ACIS-I May 4
NGC 4261 ACIS-S May 5
M82 ACIS-I May 6
Radiation Belts
SN 1993J ACIS-S May 7
Abell 1995 ACIS-S

Note that a request for a Target of Opportunity was made on 4/30 and is under assessment. If the TOO is approved, the next status report will include the schedule revisions made to accommodate the observations.

The spacecraft subsystems continued to operate nominally.
