Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 8 December 2006 8.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted by a high radiation event that stopped the daily load at 11:16 am EST on Dec 6 and activated the science instrument safing sequence (SCS 107). All spacecraft actions were nominal and the daily load will be restarted once radiation levels have dropped sufficiently. A real-time procedure was completed on Dec 7 to uplink a maneuver-only load. The maneuver was required to avoid an earth attitude violation during the perigee passage that followed the load interruption.

A real-time procedure was executed on Dec 5 to lower the Aspect Camera CCD temperature from -16 to -17 deg C. This is the second of five 1 deg C step reductions planned to mitigate the increasing number of warm pixels. An assessment of the aspect camera data following the first reduction on Nov 27 shows an expected improvement.

Real-time procedures was executed on Dec 6 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer, and on Dec 7 to update the on-board Ephemeris.

------------------------------------------
The schedule of targets for the next week will be finalized once the
radiation levels have fallen to acceptable levels.

------------------------------------------

All spacecraft subsystems continued to support nominal operations.
